Profound Quote

I'm in Dallas today to attend our Vice President's annual meeting. Some of the speakers had some very flat presentations. (Thank goodness the room was a bit on the chilly side. If I'd been warmer I might have fallen asleep!) A couple of the presentations were very dynamic. I particularly enjoyed the internal marketing of American's "WHY?" (And I have to admit, I did get a bit teary eyed during the presentation. I so love working for American Airlines!)

One of my favorite speakers from last year was back again. Thomas Rajan is the Managing Director for Talent Strategy and People Development. His presentations are always smart, interesting, creative and just phenomenal. I would love to sit down with him and just talk.

This year he included this quote from Alvin Toffler that just resonated with me.

The Experience Is A Gift

"Snowflakes pirouette lightly across the sidewalk. List in hand, a warm greeting welcomes you inside. With an eclectic mix of items to surprise your entire family, perhaps the best gift of all is your trip back in time."

“Strive to be all good, but know that you are not,” I said. “Try to enjoy every day, but know that you will not. Try to forgive others and yourself. Forget the bad stuff, remember the good. Eat cookies, but not too many. Challenge yourself to do more, to see more. Make plans, celebrate when they pan out, persevere when they don’t. Laugh when things are good, laugh when things are bad. Love with abandon, love selflessly. Life is simple, life is complex, life is short. Your only real currency is time—use it wisely.” ~ Michelle Richmond

Memorable Quotes

These are from the book Belong To Me by Marisa de los Santos

"I have lost things I will never stop missing." - Cornelia

"Passion is sloppy and over the top and immature, and anyway, it doesn't last. You don't build a life on it. Passion makes people lose their heads." - Piper

Memorable Quotes

This is from Magic Hour by Kirstin Hannah

"We're pushing 40, but you still act like you're the homecoming queen, waiting to be swept off her feet by the football captain. It's not like that. Love rips the shit out of you and puts you back together like a broken toy, with all kinds of cracks and jagged edges. It's not about falling in love. It's about the landing, the staying where you said you'd be and working to keep
love strong."
