The Right To Vote

Cade and Andrew both celebrated their 18th birthdays this year. Since they were eligible to vote, I asked them if they wanted to go with me to vote early. Now, I'm a Democrat and Cade is a Republican. Andrew also seems to lean toward Republican. I made it clear that how they voted was entirely up to them. I wasn't going to preach one candidate/Party over the other. It was simply very important to me that they exercise their newly gained right to vote. I was so happy they both wanted to go with me.

Here we are in line at the Lewisville Library, masked up and trying to maintain social distance. This picture was taken at 4:15pm.

I had Andrew and Cade go ahead of me so I could watch, and be on guard if they had any difficulties or questions. One of the volunteers called out to the crowd that they were first time voters and they received a round of applause. I was such the proud mom (and aunt). I stood there beaming from ear to ear.

I got my ballot and colored in the bubbles for the candidates I was choosing. I went back through to make sure each bubble was completely colored in. I didn't want anything to negate my selection for President!

Here we are after, sporting our "I Voted" stickers. This picture was taken at 4:34pm. So it took us less than half an hour to vote.

You can't really tell because of the mask, but I was so happy that I was able to vote with Cade and Andrew.

Braces Buddies

Cade and I both got braces today. It's hard to tell from the pictures. If you look closely, you can see a few of Cade's blue bands around his metal brackets. It's even harder to tell with me, which is exactly what I wanted. I have the clear brackets.

Right now we've both only got them on the top teeth. Other than feeling like the world's oldest teenager, I'm good. Cade is being a trooper as well.

Last Night's Flick

Cade and I gave Allan the American Sniper DVD for Father's Day. I was a bit surprised to learn that he hadn't watched it yet. So, last night the 3 of us got comfortable on the couch.

I'm not normally interested in war movies, and I was hesitant on watching one about a military sniper. Honestly, the only reason I did watch was Bradley Cooper.

I completely understand why he was nominated for an Oscar and I'm totally crushed that he didn't win. His committment to honor the legendary Chris Kyle was nothing short of amazing.

A Son Day on Saturday

Merger related training, etc. have been keeping me incredibly busy. As such, I've been working long hours and haven't seen much of Cade so far this summer. This morning I asked if he wanted to go to breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised that he agreed.

We went to our usual haunt for pancakes and eggs. We had nice conversation, both bringing each other up to speed on what's going on in our lives. Cade and I have always had great conversations, and I relished every moment during breakfast.

After our meal I figured he'd want to go home so he could return to his PS4 games, so I tentatively asked him if there was anything else he wanted to do. I was somewhat shocked when he asked if we could see the Minions movie. Maybe he was missing me as much as I had been missing him? I immediately jumped on Fandango to see the movie times and the movie was starting within 45 minutes.

We headed over to the Wynsong. Since we'd just had breakfast we didn't get any popcorn. We got into the theatre, which was pretty crowded. We were able to get seats on the aisle.

Honestly, I don't remember much about the movie's plot. It had some silly moments and it tied in very nicely with Despicable Me. For me, it wasn't about the movie. I was enjoying Cade's laughter and I was almost brought to tears simply watching him watch the movie.

Since I've a geat deal of time on my hands while I recuperate from back surgery, Mom taught me how to loom hats.

Here's my first customer.

Isn't he a cutie?

This is Cade's Christmas List. I think Santa, his Elves, and his Reindeer will need to work quite a bit of overtime!

Mother's Day Hug

Happy Mother's Day to Me

As you can see, I broke my favorite coffee in late 2012. It's been on my Amazon Wish List forever because Tumbleweed Pottery was sold out of the mug.

So imagine my utter surprise when Cade presented me with my Mother's Day gift this year. Thanks to Ebay, I had a delightful Mother's Day!

Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story

In search of his lost soulmate, an unpainted Vinylmation finds himself on a quest that alters the destiny of his entire world. Blank is an epic adventure in miniture scale, a completely original, heartwarming love story filmed entirely in practical stop motion.

I spent 37 magical minutes watching this with Cade tonight. He actually sat with me at the kitchen counter and watched it. (It truly was one of those "Thank you, God, for this wonderful moment" moments.) And you know what? It's such a heartwarming little gem. Cade and I both loved it.

If you have 37 uninterrupted minutes, you need to watch this.

I just had to get this off of my shoulders. I'm sorry about rehearsal, I'm also sorry that I'm not "fun" to certain people. I'm just a car person. I didn't want to disappoint you with the show. That's why I said yes. I know that it is important and how much you like it. So I thought I would give it a shot. But it was only target practice to me and it was probably the best thing for you. I know I'm the car geek but I never said I hated the show. I just didn't think it would be right for me. But soon I realized how much it meant to you. So I would obviously say yes. I'm sorry I don't spend much time with you but I just don't know about theatre and I'm scared to ask you and I'm scared I'll get a fact wrong and you'll laugh. I just didn't like theatre when it first came to me. But one thing is I still love you even though I don't show it.

E-mail me back if you got this message.
