Station 13

One of my favorite things to do is to volunteer to help with Cade's Field Day. After having to skip it last year, I was very excited to be helping this year.

Allan and I usually work the Spray Tag station. This year he didn't want to get wet, so we asked for the Parachute Popcorn station. I figured this one would be pretty easy since the kids already know what to do.

For the most part we had a blast. There were two classes that didn't want to listen, but seeing the kids having a great time made it worthwhile. I'd call out and ask them to bring the parachute up over their heads and then slam it down so the balls would shoot high into the sky. The kids loved doing that and would scream when the balls came falling back into the parachute.

We had a great time, though my voice is a bit hoarse from projecting too much!

Another Cut and Color

This is what I did at work yesterday.

We hosted our own Summer Olympics. Our events: Hula Hooping, Trivia, Corn Hole, Basketball, Golf and Horseshoe Toss. Free Subway sandwiches rounded out a fun-filled day!

Note From The Teacher

When your kid comes home from school with a sealed envelope, you don't exactly hurry to open it. Rarely is a note from the principal's office a good thing.

"It's my EOG test results." Cade tells me.

"So soon?" I reply. He just took the tests last week. Cade's EOG practices weren't very good, so I wasn't sure I wanted to open the envelope. Of course I did.

"Fours on both." I say. "Is that on a scale of 1 to 10?"

"Nope." Cade replys with a wide smile. "Four is the highest."

Box Office Boyz

Once again Cade came with me to help me work box office for Theatre Alliance's production of Altar Boyz.

I thought he would be interested to see a show with some good music sung and danced by 5 very talented boys.

I was wrong. He chose to stay in the box office with me while I reconciled the drawer. Still, he did do some chair dancing while drawing this.

Invisible Rabbit

The Roundabout Theatre Company's production of the Broadway revival opened in previews tonight at Studio 54. Sam went with Geoff and Karla.

Sam said she didn't buy that Jim Parsons, who stars as Elwood, actually saw Harvey. As such, she thought the show was just okay. Sam did think Carol Kane, who played Mrs. Chumley (the part that I played at The Stained Glass Playhouse) was hilarious.

Sam did save a program for me.
